What is photo retro?
Photo Retro began as the retail footprint of Pictoriographica LLC a manufacturer of photographic dry plates and dry plate accessories for photographers around the world. Opening on November 5, 2021, Photo Retro soon became popular with film photographers as the place to go for fresh film, photo paper, darkrooms, advice, assistance and camaraderie. Founder Jason Lane sold the business to Bob McElroy in June 2022 and Photo Retro LLC, A Veteran-Owned Business, was born.
Our retail space features two darkrooms, a photo studio and a small retail store in front. The goal of Photo Retro LLC is to become a hub of traditional analog photography in Southern New Hampshire, a destination for those photographers who want to practice and master the ancient art of capturing images on film. |
Services we provide
Portrait Studio
Photo Retro offers traditional large format, high-quality portraits in the traditional style, with you at the center of a photographic process and experience that you won't soon forget. Your portrait is shot on film or glass with large format cameras in a studio setting that wouldn't have been out of place for most of the 20th Century.
We also offer a unique black glass dry plate ambrotype portrait unlike anything else available. Your portrait is captured on the final result itself, developed to a beautiful, one-of-a-kind image on black glass which cannot be easily copied. The size of the resulting portrait is determined by the size of the camera itself. For example, an 8" x 10" portrait requires an 8" x 10" format camera. The black glass ambrotypes can then be mounted and framed. |
